Tomorrow evening at 7pm Mid-Buchanan high school invites you to a performance in their gym of exhibition basketball between the Harlem Wizards & the Jammin’ Dragons. Admission is $10 for students at the gate. See the flyer at the office for more details. Open gym for boys basketball tomorrow after school. Special Olympics is looking for Volunteers to walk in the Apple Blossom Parade this Saturday, May 3^rd. You get t-shirts to wear and will pass out candy, ducks and adoption papers along the parade route. Get contact information at the office. Project Graduation tickets are now on sale in the office. This event offers to graduating seniors a terrifically fun way to celebrate their crowning high school achievement alcohol-free along with other city-wide graduating seniors. The date is May 25^th. You will park your car in the East Hills parking lot and get on a bus for this lock-in party at Missouri Western State University by 11:00pm. Buses return to East Hills at 5am Monday, the 26^th. This event offers loads of activities, lots of food, and many, many prizes, all in all a great way to celebrate graduation in a safe environment and you even get a free t-shirt. Tickets are just $12 each, cash only please, on sale until May 16^th. Senior dancers & cheerleaders, would you consider donating your dance or cheer clothes that are in good condition to be given to next year’s dancers & cheerleaders? If so, please bring them to the office cleaned. The crochet club will meet today after school in the library. Mrs. Lister has a service hours sheet with no name on it. 25 of the 30 hours are from St. Francis. See Mrs. Lister to claim your service. In order to help the hungry in St. Joseph, Bishop LeBlond students are asked to bring in at least 2 canned food items, packaged mac & cheese, rice or peanut butter which will go to Inter-Serv. Bring the food to your first hour classroom by Friday and your reward, besides doing a good thing for some hungry people, will be a jeans day to be announced. A reminder to students that your vehicle is to be parked properly between the lines and with the front end of the car facing into the parking space. This applies to both east and west parking lots. You may not back into the parking spaces and you are improperly parked if you have pulled through in the west lot. Detentions are being handed out for improperly parked vehicles. We have summer bowling passes for the Belt Bowl that are good beginning May 1. One free game of bowling for every day this summer. Get ‘em at the office. Detentions in room 104 today. We have adopted a school up in the mountains and are planning on building a bathroom for the kids. Right now they share an outhouse made for one student. This school has nothing, and we can improve their lives forever. We are also going to build a stove that puts the smoke out of the house and gives them a better quality of life in the home. Students have another community service opportunity to walk in the Apple Blossom Parade or be on a float Saturday, May 3. The theme of the parade is "A tribute to St. Joe families…the heart of our city". There will be a float decorated with two respect life banners and a large sign with Joseph Robidoux's picture in the center surrounded by smaller street sign's with the names of his children (Felix, Faraon, Messanie, Jules, etc) and the title "St. Joseph's First Family". We will also be passing out Life Saver candies and book marks with family-friendly respect life messages. Come to the office if you are interested in this opportunity.

April 23, 2008 Good morning! From the Bishop LeBlond Track & Field coaching staff: A very, very special "THANK YOU" to all those teachers, staff members, students, and parents who voluntarily helped to make the Bishop LeBlond Track and Field Invitational Track Meet a huge success and impressive event! This event would not have been possible without time, effort and dedication from so many gracious and wonderful volunteers!! Coach Huss and Coach Shinn received numerous compliments from coaches, athletes, and our official starter Mr. Larry Hughes on how smoothly this track meet was run. We told them to "Thank all our volunteer help, they are the reason and they deserve all the credit." God Bless you for your commitment and passion to make things special, for not only our students at Bishop LeBlond, but for those who visit us! All seniors will be attending the Mark Sterner presentation at Central High School today. Departure is at 1p.m. and arrival back at LB will be about 2:30. April 21, 2008 Good morning! We welcome Melissa Murphy & Brittany Young today who are shadowing Erin Christiansen. Congratulations to the Lady eagle soccer team for Winning First Place in the Smith-Cotton Gold Division soccer tournament this weekend. In the first game against Clinton, Kelly Walker got two goals while Jocie Van Vickle, Erin Christiansen and Rompin' Rachael Stephan added one each. In game two, Rachael Stephan started the scoring with two goals, Kim Girard added three goals in a seven minute time span and Jocie Van Vickle and Emilee Kneale tacked on one each. In game three Kelly walker tied the game up in the second half by out footworking the keeper for a goal and Kim Girard got the game winner in the 73rd minute. There is no golf or tennis match or track meet today. There will be no track practice today, but frosh track athletes will meet in Coach Huss’s room after school for a meeting that will last about 20 minutes. The sooner you get there, the sooner you may leave. Track athletes need to check the bulletin board for their work assignments for Saturday’s Parochial League Meet.

April 16, 2008 Good morning! Shelby Hughes brought home two medals from last night's Cameron Invitational Track Meet taking second place in the 1600 meter run and fourth place in 800 meters. Fellow classmate Mercedes Lucero broke another school record by running 17.5 seconds in the 100 meter High Hurdles, a record she tied last week at the City Track meet with a 17.9. Mercedes also broke her own school record running 51.9 seconds in the 300 meter Intermediate Hurdles and taking home the Silver medal at the Cameron Invite in that event! Congratulations to both Shelby and Mercedes, and a big THANK YOU from the coaching staff, to all the Bishop LeBlond student-athletes who made this meet a success by being very encouraging and helpful to their fellow teammates, and especially those who stayed at the meet to the end and helped with all the clean-up, trash, tent etc...YOU ARE TRULY MEN AND WOMEN FOR OTHERS! Fr. Shawn will hold a meeting to answer questions for all interested parents of those students who are going on the Guatemala mission trip this summer. The meeting will be this evening at 6pm in one of the religion classrooms.
