Steve Vertin Resigns LeBlond Football Coaching PositionSt. Joseph, Mo. – Bishop LeBlond High School Principal Solon Haynes announced today that Steve Vertin has resigned as the school’s varsity football coach. Vertin will continue to be the LeBlond varsity boys basketball coach, dean of students and a social studies teacher at the school.Haynes said the demands of being the head coach of two major sports are tremendous, especially since the seasons are back-to-back and he greatly appreciated Vertin’s commitment to the school. “Coach Vertin gives more than 100 percent to everything he does and ultimately no one can continue at that pace for more than seven months per year.” The search for a new football coach will begin immediately. Individuals interested in the position should contact Dr. Solon Haynes at Bishop LeBlond.
Families of Bishop LeBlond students may now have up-to-date information on student grades through the Sycamore website, www.sycamoreeducation.com. Initial log-on information and instructions on use were mailed with the December newsletter. If you have questions, please call or email Ken Girard,

Snow Days
Per the family handbook, school cancellation due to inclement weather will be announced on KQ2 television and radio stations KFEQ or KKJO after 6 a.m. Please do not call the school. Make sure the cancellation announcement you see or hear says St. Joseph Catholic Schools. We will also use our School Reach system to notify you of school cancellations due to weather. If you are not receiving automated calls from us, please let us know so we can add your number to the list. Bishop LeBlond will coordinate its decision with the Catholic elementary schools. This decision may or may not coincide with the decision of the St. Joseph Public Schools unless the cancellation is for heavy snow. Because the Catholic schools do not have bus service, we will usually not cancel classes because of extreme temperatures only. Bishop LeBlond rarely dismisses school early due to inclement weather. A parent/guardian may choose to pick up his/her student early if they deem it necessary. However, any student absence when school is in session (except school competitions or school-sponsored field trips) is counted against perfect attendance.
