ACT PREP will be hosted by NWMSU on March 31 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.  $40.00 fee

THE PONY EXPRESS CHAPTER AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

The person must be seeking a business or professional career; GPA of at least 2.5; Cover letter required

Scholarships in the amount of $500.00 to $1000.00 each

The High School Juniors Leadership Academy Day, sponsored by Learning for Life will be held March 6, from 8:15-2:30 p.m. on the campus of MWSU. Bishop LeBlond High School will be taking 10 juniors. Those students interested should see Mrs. Lister to sign for this local leadership opportunity.

The American Legion Boys State of Missouri is announcing the 73rd session to be held June 16-23, on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. This is a leadership activity designed specifically for high school juniors. Additional information and an online application are available at http://www.moboysstate.org. This is A WEEK TO SHAPE A LIFETIME. Applications are due to the Missouri Boys State District Chairman by March 1, 2012. This planned 8 day program will involve nearly 1,000 students. SOUTH SIDE BUSINESS WOMEN’S SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to a senior graduating woman; Application forms available in the Counselor’s office; GPA of 3.0 Based on financial need; A cover letter describing your financial need, extracurricular activities, awards, and accomplishments; Recipients will be notified and invited to attend a mother-daughter banquet in May.

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI is sponsoring an informative summer experience for high school students interested in a career in medicine. This program will include problem based learning sessions, hands on experience in anatomy, microbiology, and clinical skills, as well as seminars on college and medical school entrance and medical school life.

The Counseling Center has 3 new publications available for senior students: Next StepU which is a college planning guide, The Source which is a financial aid source for grants, loans, and scholarships, and Private Colleges & Universities which features content on "Why Choose a Catholic College?".

Although it is still early, for those seniors and their families who are looking at FAFSA, now is a good time to get PIN numbers in place to be ready for the first of the year. Missouri's deadline remains March 1, 2012. Online materials are available now at www.studentaid.ed.gov/pubs for parents and student publications.

MISSOURI S&T announces the qualifications for Chancellor's Scholarship: top 10% of class, ACT score of 30 and a GPA of 3.75. For further information see Mrs. Lister.

Information about Athletic Training Programs at PARK UNIVERSITY and the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI are available in the Counseling Center.

Following the UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI SYSTEMS Fall Counselors Seminar on Sept. 13, the Counseling Center has the latest updates and flyers on U of MO at Columbia, U of MO at St. Louis, Missouri S&T, and the U of MO at Kansas City. Mrs. Lister returned with special folders and information for UMKC School of Medicine, UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration, UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance, and UMKC School of Nursing. UMKC is offering a new degree, the Bachelor of Health Science Degree, a special curriculum to prepare students for a wide variety of healthcare-related careers which might include management or leadership positions in the healthcare field.
