2012-13 ACT Test Dates

The test fee is $35, with the writing portion, $50.50. The additional late registration fee is $18. Bishop LeBlond's high school code number for the ACT is 262-905. Students are encouraged to register online. Act Registration Website: http://www.act.org/aap/

Students signed up for the ACT test MUST have their photo uploaded to their ACT registration for the paper ticket that is their admission to the testing session. THIS IS A NEW REQUIREMENT! Students WILL NOT be allowed to take the test without the photo ID paper ticket. Students must print the ticket and bring it with them! ALSO, students must have another form of photo ID—such as a school ID or driver’s license. Any questions…see Mrs. Danford in the Counseling Center!

Seniors: The new FAFSA for the 2013-2014 school year is now available! You’ll need your Federal Student Aid PIN to complete the FAFSA electronically. If you don’t have a PIN, apply for one today at http://www.pin.ed.gov. Complete the FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Name:         Buchanan County Farm Bureau Scholarships

Amount:      $750 (2 given)

Deadline:     May 31, 2013  

Scholarships available for students who fit the criteria 1) permanent residence in Buchanan County 2) parent or guardian must be a member of the Buchanan County Farm Bureau for at least 2 years and 3) preference given to student who is pursuing a bachelor degree in agriculture or related field of study.  Applications are in Mrs. Danford’s office.

Name: Kirschner Scholarship (Local)

Amount: $500-4,000

Deadline: June 1, 2013

Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA and an ACT score of 18 or higher, and will be attending a 4-year accredited college/university or a junior college or vo-tech school.  First consideration is given to those students who are pursuing a degree in Christian Ministry, Christian Counseling, Christian Education OR similar fields such as education, social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, physical therapy, medicine, or criminal justice.  Consideration is also given to those students from the St. Joseph School District and/or attending Missouri Western. This scholarship is renewable but you have to call to get a renewable application each year. Kirschner Scholarship Application   

Name: William Toben King Educational Trust- Commerce Bank

Amount: $500-2,000 Renewable (Local)

Deadline: June 1, 2013

Student must be a resident of Andrew or Buchanan County and be a high school senior graduating from a high school within the boundaries of these two counties.  A 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and ACT score of 18 or higher is required.  Student must demonstrate financial need, or not receiving many scholarships and attend a 4-year accredited college/university, junior college, or vo-tech school.  The application is lengthy and requires submission of your parent's tax return (this year &last year). Students must include one letter of recommendation from a counselor, coach, teacher or principal written on a provided form.William Toben King Scholarship Application

Maple Woods Community College hosts a Veterinary Tech Monarch Day the second Wednesday of every month from 3:00-4:30 in the Vet Tech building located on the south side of campus. To register online go to mcckc.edu/visitmw or call 816.604.3587.

The American Legion sponsors a number of scholarships, including one for students training to be a registered nurse. See Mrs. Danford for the entire list and packet.

The Counseling Center has 3 publications available for senior students: Next StepU which is a college planning guide, The Source which is a financial aid source for grants, loans, and scholarships, and Private Colleges & Universities which features content on "Why Choose a Catholic College?".

MISSOURI S&T announces the qualifications for Chancellor's Scholarship: top 10% of class, ACT score of 30 and a GPA of 3.75. For further information see Mrs. Danford.

Information about Athletic Training Programs at PARK UNIVERSITY and the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI are available in the Counseling Center.
